Tres Chic Mama Diaries: Pernille at 36 weeks

Hello everyone, Pernille from poorogrich here and it is good to be back!  It may have seemed I fell off the planet and in a sense I did.  At my 32 week appointment my doctor realized I was in pre-term labor and I was admitted to the hospital for 5 days to slow things down.  Needless to say, this was a less than exciting time fashion-wise for me.  The great news though was that they were able to stop things from progressing, the bad news was that I was put on bedrest once I got home.  Anyone who has ever been around a 3 year old can attest to the difficulty of keeping one entertained from your bed!

So what is bedrest like?  Super amazing the first two days where you just lie in bed and read and watch TV and don’t have to do anything.  And then you start to look out the window and see the world go by.  Then you start to pine for being in that world and then you realize just how much you still have to do before these babies get here and that’s when you really need to focus on why you are on bedrest.  Clothing-wise there are only so many things you can do with shorts and a tank top so I will spare you pictures from that time.

With great support from family and friends, I am now off of bed rest and at more than 36 weeks these babies are set to show up any day now.  However, with a 36 week belly with two massive babies in it, fashion choices are very limited to put it mildly.  Shirts are too short, pants are too tight, and this insane heat wave has made any kind of long dress nearly impossible to survive in.  And yet, on this particular day, where all we had to do was go to breakfast and bum around the house, this outfit made complete sense.

With my long non-maternity dress from Gap (similar here), my super trusty brown leather belt from Anthropologie (similar here) and some old vintage jewelry, it couldn’t get much simpler.

I had never really thought to sling a belt low until the end stage of my pregnancy and now I do it all of the time.  Not only is there absolutely no room to belt my stomach above it; the feet of the twins are so far up in my ribs, but it also makes you feel just a tad more pulled together.  So now whenever I wear a dress, which now really look more like shirts, I sling a belt on it and you should too.

With the news that I will be induced July 30th when the babies have reached full-term, you will only see one more pregnancy post from me and who knows after then?  This body has changed so much, it will be a whole new challenge to dress it. But until then; sling a belt on it and give yourself some cool.

Hej, hej
