Ok so the assignment here is easy ladies: create as many wardrobe formulas as occasions you need to dress for, paying special attention to the proportions that work for your body type and bump status. Group these occasions in categories such as work attire, lunch date, dinner party, brunch, cocktail, running errands, casual friday, weekend etc. Once you have a basic formula, simply interchange separates and accessories within that formula and voila! from now on you instantly create winning ensembles that you know flatter you. This might initially require a little bit of planning, but it will save you lots of time (and frustration) down the road. Plus, it’s a great strategy to put into practice now that you’re expecting so by the time little bundle of joy arrives (and you have less than 5 minutes to get yourself together at any given time throughout the day), you’ll be a seasoned wardrobe formula creator and putting together outfits will be as easy as counting 1, 2, 3.

To give you a head start, I’m kicking off this new tcm feature today with a very basic but effective wardrobe formula- pair a long cardi with skinny jeans and add some flair with riding boots. As long as you maintain the main principles of the formula you will have foolproof ensembles every time- swap skinny jeans for leggins, a long cardi for a long tank and a shorter cardi version, and boots in different knee heights and styles. This is an easy way to incorporate the season’s trends into your wardrobe, by including one updated garment (like the preppy, apres-ski or navajo-inspired cardis in today’s story) or by stacking up on of-the-moment accessories.
